Had no time to paint the ADNW so I use a foutain pen with black ink on a printer paper sheet.
No time to add the full fence and it was not necessary to be added ;)

I had other lemons but I try a crop of Vincent's painting. I like to see that even a master can miss the perspective, the symetry of objects. ;) - Even if it is a deliberate choice (who knows?)

If you make a drawing copy of this painting and showing it in a community forum of artist, without saying that this is a copy, you will get a lot of comments about the perspective, the tilts, the ellipse and so on ... ;))

And you know what , I like Van Gogh as a painter - His nervous brush strokes and the Provence colours he filled his paintings.

From wetcanvas site - portraiture forum - May challenge. I like very much the hat so I had to have a go ;) - I decreased the white paper on the hat to give a better 1880 feeling. I added also some hair below the ear. For the background I choose red to remind a well known book (The red and the black)- Sorry Gavin I did not get the likeness ... Perhaps next time?

Finally spring...oil on board 6" x 8"

My first choice would have been a dark green background, similar to the photo.
But the assigment was to personnalize the backround, so I choose for myself ;) the ouside wall of my house. It is a mix of chalk, shells and some rusty color. I pushed the flow of stone toward the center of the painting.

The other thing I did was to tilt a little the leave to let the flower alone against the wall.

I am quite happy with stem and leaves, but i find the petals quite muddy now that I see them posted. :(

So for this one it is: back to the easel.

The reference is an old american truck - I started with the idea of keeping it US, even a little derelict, but I saw a likeness with and old French pick-up Peugeot 203 from the 50's - And so here it is a red 203 in the south of France ;))

This one turn quite well - One hour work - I upped the head to get an eye, lowed the horse back, cleaned the background and inserted some tree ghosts as seen in winter - The "3" on the cover instead of the 7 is because it has meaning to me: my birthdate is third of december ;)
